Artist Christopher Janney has completed the second of two major artworks for Boston Logan International Airport’s Central Garage in April, 2007. The first, “Rainbow Cove Green,” which is located in the northeast pedestrian tower (Terminal C), reflects eight parking levels within the parking structure, from the bottom up, with horizontal bands of colored glass in graduated shades. Within this palette, Janney has added visual accents of complimentary colors, or “visual syncopations” in counterpoint to the color field. Additionally, a multi-speaker sound environment composed by Janney and titled, “Sound Environments of New England”, makes each floor individual, but allows floors to be harmonically related to one another.

“Rainbow Cove Green’s “ sister project, “Rainbow Cove Red,” is located in the southwest pedestrian tower of the Central Garage nearest Terminal B. Similar in design, this tower conforms to the airport’s existing color graphics system with Terminal B denoted in red. The tower is predominately red, red violet and red orange with added visual syncopations of color to offset the large red field.
